...Time

Give me time and I will fly,
Maybe not according to your timetable,
But I will fly

Give me room and I will expand,
Beyond your wildest dreams and expectations,
That is if you had any for me

Give me space and I will move,
Beyond the boundaries of your mind,
And beyond the boundaries of mine

Give me time and I will, I must fly.

*Inspired by a project for Envision that I supported in 2006. I had the privilege of working alongside an excellent group of young women at Burntwood School in London. Over two terms they became Envision Volunteers, and in their own time organised events to raise awareness around the issues of recycling, climate change and others. The words of this poem came together after I attended their final project - A Recycled Fashion Show.

  1. Hi, I just saw your very long comment on C.Beth Blog's post about Blogger Types. I could relate to every word that you said (about putting off writing for a long time, but needing to commit to it every day on a basic level, and thus starting the blog.) Your comment was refreshing. Just thought I'd share.

Keep going, and we'll keep reading!

  2. These words are apt in so many instances-- at home when we are pressured to do things, or at work when we want to do things, but have boundaries, and then most often, when we are hard on ourselves, we need these words.

    It will happen in time.

  3. Hi CDB & hello again SSQuo,

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated and encouraging.

Also a nice prompt to stick to my resolve to blog - I have become pre-occupied with other stuff and not posted anything recently.

I'll swing by your pages soon!
